Meet Chance

Chance entered the Good Karma Initiative on August 25, 2026, when he was pulled from the shelter alongside Hope.

Like Hope, Chance arrived completely shut down. Trembling, refusing to walk, having fear-related accidents, and showing constant signs of uncertainty, he was simply too afraid to understand that the people around him were trying to help. Even through that level of fear, Chance has shown no growling, biting, or attempts to hurt anyone. When he's scared, his instinct is to retreat, freeze, and avoid rather than fight.

Right now, Chance is especially unsure of human interaction. He isn't seeking affection the way Hope has begun to, and he's more hesitant when someone reaches toward him or enters his space.

And that's okay.

We're not going to rush him into accepting affection before he's ready. Chance gets to learn at his own pace that the people around him aren't here to hurt him—and that gentle hands, patience, and human connection can eventually become something he enjoys rather than something he fears.We know he'll get there.

Before obedience or traditional training becomes the priority, we're focusing on decompression, confidence, positive human interaction, and trust. Every time Chance chooses to engage, relaxes a little more in our presence, takes another step, or allows himself to experience something new, that's progress.

There is still so much about Chance that we haven't gotten to see yet. His personality, favorite things, play style, and all the little quirks that will eventually make someone fall in love with him are still hidden underneath the fear.

Our job right now is to give him enough safety and time to let that dog come forward.

As Chance grows more confident, we'll gradually introduce training and new experiences at a pace he's ready for. Along the way, we'll learn exactly what he needs from the family who will eventually call him theirs.

Chance isn't available for adoption just yet.

For now, we're giving him exactly what his name promises:

a chance.
